To find out if your home has lead, we recommend getting you water tested. Many buildings, particularly older ones, have lead pipes or service lines which can be a source of contamination. The amount of lead in water in a city can vary greatly from neighborhood to neighborhood, or even building to building. While Groveland water testing may have found 0.002 mg/L of lead in its water, that does not mean your water source has the same amount. The synthetic ISO VG 32 runs considerably cooler than the mineral oil equivalent. An ISO VG 32 synthetic is the bearing life equivalent of an ISO VG 68 mineral oil. In a recent case history, ISO VG 100 was applied to a large pump where ISO VG 68 mineral oil or its equivalent ISO VG 32 would have sufficed. Figure 3 shows that ISO VG 100 (or higher) oils would be needed here. That said, a large bearing (200 decimeters) in a slow speed gearbox (200 rpm) requires an operating v 1 of 40 cSt. However, thicker oils have their place, and MRC had to cover all the bases with their 100 SUS rule-of-thumb. Using lubricants with viscosities in excess of those needed may generate excess heat and actually work against operators. The information in this figure is per common rule of thumb, using average viscosity improvers. Alternatively, the user might choose ISO VG 68 and verify that its operating temperature does not exceed 100 C (212 F). If the user selects ISO VG 32, he or she might start the pump and verify that its oil temperature had leveled off at no greater than 75 C. Users enter the vertical scale near 9 cSt and move toward the right, where the line intersects with oils ranging from ISO VG 22 through ISO VG 320. For a required viscosity (vertical scale), the permissible bearing operating temperatures (horizontal scale) increase as thicker oils are chosen (diagonal lines). ![]() If users choose premium grade synthetic oils, they will enjoy a sizeable safety factor in lube applications.įigure 3. Note that Figures 2 and 3 were drawn years ago and apply to mineral oils. Unnecessarily viscous oils will become hot. The operating temperature derives its combined thermal input from bearing load and lube oil frictional drag. Note that a bearing's operating temperature must be known to determine what ISO VG is needed. In this instance, one could operate with a lubricant which, at the bearing operating temperature, is somewhere between 8 and 9 cSt. To simplify, consider it 100 mm, and travel up from 100 to a location midway between the 3,000 and 5,000 rpm lines in Figure 2. The bearing's mean diameter would be 105 mm. (Courtesy of SKF)įor another example, if a bearing was mounted on a 70-mm shaft rotating at 3,600 rpm, we might assume that the bearing's outside diameter (OD) is twice its inner diameter (ID), or 140 mm. 3 A bearing with a mean diameter of 390 mm at a shaft speed of 500 r/min will require v 1= 13.2 cSt. Required minimum (rated) viscosity v 1 as a function of bearing dimension and shaft speed. ![]() Oil overheating may be an additional concern.įigure 2. Oil rings, if used, would probably slow down and malfunction in such viscous oils. But that is unrealistically thick for most process pump bearings. The MRC Engineer's Handbook states, "In general, the oil viscosity should be about 100 Saybolt Universal Seconds (SUS) at the operating temperature." 1 If for some reason a bearing was operating at 210 degrees F, Figure 1 would call for a lubricant with an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) viscosity grade (VG) somewhere between 220 and 320. Whatever the user chooses, he or she must guard against using the thinnest oil found on the market to avoid the problem of inadequate oil film strength and thickness. They can use a jet of oil (oil spray) or convey the oil mixed with compressed air in the form of an oil fog-also called oil mist. Users can heat the oil or avoid oil rings and other risk-inducing lube application methods by using smarter means. Thick oils are more viscous and may not readily flow into the bearings. ![]() Figure 1 illustrates where these motor oils fit in comparison to the industrial oil designations used today. But thinner oils, perhaps SAE 10, can help prepare a vehicle for winter driving. Some will know from their experience with automobiles that thicker oils, such as Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) 30, are more appropriate for warm summer months. ![]() Also differentiating this version from the Disney World original was the meet & greet, which was now attached to the house and replaced the screening room as the tour’s conclusion. Instead, this new version featured interactive elements and over-exaggerated cartoon pops that guest could play with. Thanks to its Roger Rabbit influences, the new land was much more cartoony than Starland, featuring a slew of interactive elements and attractions including Minnie Mouse’s House, Donald Duck’s boat, and a new version of Mickey’s house that did away with the velvet ropes and realistic props such as a grand piano. However, budget cuts led to Starland being combined with a proposed Roger Rabbit-themed land to become Mickey’s Toontown. In the early 1990s, Disney planned to build a West Coast clone of Mickey’s Starland at Disneyland, part of a major expansion of the park outlined in the Disney Decade plan. However, the tour of Mickey’s House and the Mickey meet & greet remained central elements of the land. The focus shifted from a birthday celebration to promotion for the Disney afternoon block of animated series, with a heavy emphasis put on characters during a reworked version of the stage show. In 1990, they changed the name to Mickey’s Starland. ![]() While Mickey’s Birthdayland was initially planned to be a temporary expansion, guests were so taken with the land that Disney decided to leave it standing. Mickey’s Country House in the Magic Kingdom In this first incarnation, guests would tour the house, viewing each of Mickey’s somewhat realistically furnished rooms - including a den, living room, bedroom, and kitchen - from behind velvet ropes, before the tour concluded in a screening room showing classic Mickey cartoons. It featured facades of the town of Duckburg, a meet & great with Mickey in his dressing room at Mickey’s Hollywood Theater, a stage show revolving around the other Disney characters throwing Mickey a surprise birthday party, and - most importantly for our purposes today - a replica of Mickey Mouse’s House. The initial version of Mickey’s Birthdayland was… sparse, to put it mildly. The trip would end at the brand new Mickey’s Birthdayland Station, where guests would disembark. Guests could board the Walt Disney World Railroad to take a direct trip to the new land, passing by cutouts of other Disney characters along the way, all of whom are also headed to celebrate Mickey’s Birthday. To celebrate that occasion, Disney added a new land to the Magic Kingdom, aptly titled Mickey’s Birthdayland. Specifically, Mickey Mouse’s 60th birthday in 1988. However, that all ended in 2011 when Mickey was evicted for a … circus?! So, why was Mickey’s house built in the first place, and whey was it torn down? Let’s find out.īelieve it or not, the story of Mickey’s House at the Magic Kingdom begins with a birthday. Her royal grace approved of the civil war as a way to resolve the matter, going so far as to provide each of the three siblings with giant colossi-machines of war to help them fight each other! But there are other dangers lurking in the shadows of Threedom…so do be careful. The three children, who otherwise live lives of luxury, wage war against each other, all with the blessing of the Queen. The King’s triplets each blamed the others for the fatal act, resulting in a devastating three-way civil war that goes on to this day. Many years ago, the King of Threedom was murdered and the region has been in disarray since. Threedom is a mess for entirely different reasons than Onecroft. Or rather, the Mayors, as his dormant personality has manifested almost entirely into a person of its own that grows out of his tophat, ruling upside-down in his own twisted mirror-flipped version of Two-Town! Two-Town is a magical place, but one that’s equally twisted. This is where things begin to get a bit stranger. After all, it’s better to be together in Onecroft than separated across the realms. Many of those who live in Onecroft have come to accept it for what it is. Home is still home, and for Even and Odd, Onecroft is just that. What the junk is used for, however, is quite unknown to them. The Oners mostly make their living hauling junk onto freighters so that anything of value can be used by the Queen. ![]() The junk of the other five realms is discarded into Onecroft, leaving the Oners (as they’re known) with far more trash than treasure. Onecroft is the most decrepit of the six realms. Our story, though, begins with two sisters, Even and Odd, who’ve grown up in the lowliest of the six realms. You get your own spotlight reading lamp, again controlled from the armrest control panel. This is a godsend for Indian summers and is not present even in the limousine class of sedans in the country. You even get heated and cooled function for second row seats. Understandable as the only way to get in the third row is by moving the second row seat forward, and that will take a long time if it was powered. However, the horizontal sliding is manual. Plus, you even get two memory settings so you can set one for an upright commute, and another one for lounge, and swap between them with just a touch. This lets you recline the backrest, adjust the angle of the footrest and even extend it - all electrically. Because flip open the outside armrest and you find a control panel. When it gets to seat adjustment, the Vellfire really takes the game ahead. The entire seat is dressed in leather and reeks of aristocracy. The armrests are tall and also get a soft leather upholstery for added comfort. The cushioning is soft and you kind of sink into them, like on a sofa. The moment you bum hits the base, you know this is going to be a comfortable affair. Separated not just by armrests, but an entire seat structure. You get two upholstery options - black and Flaxen (beige). In fact, Toyota says the car has been designed around the seats, and it definitely shows. And the sight they open is the one you get when you sneak a peek into the business class cabin on an international flight. Like most large MPVs, the side doors are powered and slide back. Because that's where the Vellfire will justify its asking price. Of course, and that too in the second row. ![]() It's the same MPV, but with a Lexus tadka. ![]() If you have even more money to spare on a luxury MPV, check out the Lexus LM 300h instead. But, the Vellfire has them beat in terms of height.Īt the back, you get a very MPV-like profile. In fact, both the V-Class and even the more humble Kia Carnival are longer, wider and have a longer wheelbase than the Jap. Speaking of size, it's important to mention that the Vellfire, though huge, isn't the biggest thing out there. Wheels are 225/60 R17 units finished in a dark-ish chrome and do justice to the overall look of the MPV. The glass area is massive and the rear window wears wraparound glasses which lends it a clean look. Move to the side and the shark fin-like B-pillar adds a bit of flavour to the otherwise plain profile. But it doesn't have a dominating presence like the Carnival. It looks like you spent big bucks on it, which you’d have. The massive front split chrome grille is made to look like a Samurai's armour and along with the split headlamps, give it an unmistakable Japanese, in-your-face esque. It also wouldn’t really make sense to not have Christmas in the title somehow, which is why Mistletoe & Menorahs works so well. For this movie it wouldn’t make sense to not have Hanukkah" in the title somehow. To me, that’s a missed opportunity because there is an audience for this, given the amount of Jewish families and mixed families that would tune in for that. Hallmark is doing two movies this season with Hanukkah in them, but neither of their films have Hanukkah in the title or a word about the holiday in it. We really liked the idea of representing Judaism with putting menorah in the title. We thought it was emblematic of what the movie is, the spirit of it, and both holidays. At MarVista, some of the executives were brainstorming potential titles, and one of my colleagues came up with Mistletoe & Menorahs and we just loved it. Julianna: It was originally Merry Hanukkah. Some websites listed the original title for Mistletoe & Menorahs as Merry Holiday. Then, two years later, to have a movie together that we both worked on…it’s just incredible.
